Top 5 Things to Do and See at RiverFest 2019

Uptown Columbus' RiverFest 2019 is here, and here's everything you need to know about the event this weekend. We've gathered together the complete schedule, insider tips, vendor sneak peeks, and even a map to ensure you can make the most of Columbus' first summer festival this weekend. Here are our tips for the top 5 things not to miss at RiverFest 2019:

1) Live Music

RiverFest has become synonymous with live music by top local talent, and this year is no exception. From tributes to original tracks, there's something for everyone this year coming to the RiverFest stage.

Friday night, May 3 - Event opens at 5 p.m. *5:00pm - 7:00pm: Live Music by Mango Strange

*7:30pm - 10:30pm: Live Music by 42 - Coldplay Tribute

Saturday, May 4 - Event opens at 11 a.m.

*12:00-3:00pm: The Tyler Neal Band

*5:30pm-8:30pm: Live Music by Bob Marley Tribute

*9:00pm-10:30pm: Live Music by Angie Keilhauer

2) The Food!

BBQ. Soul food. Tacos. Italian ice. Beer. Healthy. Unhealthy. Baked. Fried. Roasted. Fresh.

You name it, it's on the Dillingham Street Bridge for you to enjoy all weekend long. Food vendors will be present starting at 5 p.m. on Friday night and will stay until the festival closes on Saturday. Expect to see local favorites and some new regional vendors as well. We're pretty partial to that local BBQ though, ourselves.

3) Local Artists & Craft Vendors

Have you seen our interview with Gina Tew? She's just one of many artists that will be present this weekend at RiverFest. Head down to discover many new local and regional artists and vendors. It's the best weekend of the year to discover new talent!

4) Adventure

It is called RiverFest, after all...

Whitewater Competition

It's not a whitewater season opener without a little competition. The 2019 Salt Life Columbus Cup will host races on the river all weekend. Sponsored by Salt Life and the World Paddle Association, the competition will hand out $32,000 in cash and prizes for the Open, Juniors, and Pro Elite competition winners. Plan to make your way to the RiverWalk and RiverWalk Island to watch some of the top competitors in the southeast.

Since the race schedule can change depending on water flow for the day, we'd recommend asking someone onsite for information about the races. Check in with someone in an Uptown Columbus Shirt or an event staff member. Just want to see the winners? Awards will take place on the RiverFest main stage on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Rafting Trips for All

In honor of the celebration of our hometown river, Whitewater Express will be offering $25 Rafting Trips for the entire weekend! Book online or call 706-321-4720 for reservations ahead of time to ensure you've got a seat. Then, head to their store at 1000 Bay Avenue (right across from RiverFest and Woodruff Park splash pad) to check-in before your trip. Need help? Just ask a local. We're positive someone will help you find your way!

More into cars?

Check out the PTAP Car Show! The hometown automotive performance shop is sponsoring a car show on Saturday and will be providing a live feed for Pro SUP race fans during the show.

*12:00-4:00pm: PTAP Car Show, Phenix City Amphitheater Parking Lot

*3:00-5:00pm: Live Feed from Professional SUP Races

5) Salt Life

Salt Life is this year's presenting sponsor for RiverFest, which can only mean one thing. The weekend will be full of chances to check out the brand's latest products. From gear to goods, Salt Life has everything for life on the water. Just here for the weekend? Don't miss their new retail store in Columbus in the heart of Uptown. Ask a local for directions or just head to 1104 Broadway.
