Historic Westville Village introduces a new Halloween tradition with trick-or-treating, interactive theater, storytelling, and family-friendly fun on October 31.

This Halloween, Historic Westville Village is inviting Columbus to step back in time for an afternoon of tricks, treats, and a few tall tales.

On Saturday, October 31, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the living history museum will host its inaugural Tricks, Treats & Tall Tales, a family-friendly celebration featuring trick-or-treating, interactive theater, storytelling, games, crafts, and plenty of Halloween fun for all ages.

"We are so excited to present our first Halloween event at Historic Westville Village!" said April Kirk, Executive Director. "Tricks, Treats & Tall Tales is a family friendly, all ages event to bring people together for a fun Halloween experience."

Guests are encouraged to come in costume and explore Historic Westville Village, collecting candy and prizes along the way. Each admission includes a trick-or-treat bag, access to activities throughout the Village, and opportunities to engage with a variety of local organizations bringing their own creative contributions to the celebration.

Among the afternoon's highlights is a special collaboration with SuperChatts, a Columbus-based improvisational theater group bringing live, interactive performances to the historic setting throughout the day.

Drawing inspiration from old folktales and the art of storytelling, SuperChatts will invite audience members to become part of the performance, creating new stories together through improvisation.

"SUPERCHATTS! Is so excited to bring improv to Historic Westville Village! Our mission is to uplift Columbus and its surrounding areas with laughter, connection, and artistry that is uniquely human from start to finish," said Jon Le Gallais and J. Aaron Poole.

"We pride ourselves on offering a theatre experience that anybody of any age can take part in with no prior experience," they added. "We're hoping to see lots of new faces gathering around to hear some old folktales, and then hopping up to help us create some of our own on a rich playground of inspiration!"

The event will also feature Halloween history, urban legends, and storytelling, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the traditions and tales associated with the holiday.

Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will join the festivities with a special animal encounter, giving visitors the chance to get up close with some of nature's more curious creatures.

Additional community partners include Compass and Key Tarot, offering mini tarot card readings, along with local food vendors The Bongo Bakehouse, serving desserts, and Manna Bowls, offering açaí bowls and smoothies.

Throughout the Village, families can also enjoy crafts, games, and other seasonal activities.

"Trick or treat around the Village and enjoy candy, games, and crafts combined with interactive improve from our friends at Superchatt!, mini Tarot Card sessions with Compass and Key, and a creepy, crawly animal encounter with Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center," Kirk said. "We invite everyone to come enjoy a true neighborhood Halloween experience!"

With its historic buildings and immersive village setting, Historic Westville offers a distinctive backdrop for an afternoon that brings together history, the performing arts, and the spirit of community in a unique and exciting way.
