Springer 'All Set' to Deliver Joy this Holiday Season

If you're from Columbus, there's a chance you've grown up attending productions at the Springer Opera House every holiday season. There's also a possibility you've appeared in a few of them yourself. On any given day in Uptown, it's not uncommon to encounter a dozen or more "Springer Kids" either coming from or going to the theatre. Why? Because as Georgia's Historic State Theatre, the Springer Opera House knows the value of placing quality professional theatre in front of a community, and it's something they've been doing well in Columbus for 147 years.

This holiday season, the Springer will bring two incredibly popular Christmas comedies to the stage. 'ELF' the musical opens first, and tells the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s sack and is transported back to the North Pole.

After years of being raised by elves, Buddy is ready to find his biological father and embarks on a search that leads him to New York City. A wacky, zany, joyful adventure ensues as upbeat songs and dance numbers take the audience along on Buddy's journey to finding the meaning of Christmas. Popular songs include "Sparklejollytwinklejingley," "A Christmas Song," "Nobody Cares About Santa," and "The Story of Buddy the Elf." Get ready to laugh your way through this modern Christmas classic perfect for all ages, families, and friends.

Want more bang for your buck? Choose to attend a Sunday performance. Each ticket will include access to a festive brunch with Buddy the Elf! All brunch attendees will enjoy a delicious brunch, a Christmas craft, and be given a commemorative ornament to remember the occasion. Sunday tickets are being sold separately.

Next up, is Springer's holiday tradition of "A Tuna Christmas." Springer has done the "Tuna Christmas" series for over 18 years and this year, they're bringing back Jim Pharr and Ben Redding to the stage to put the fun in DisFUNction.

"A Tuna Christmas" requires Pharr and Redding to play all 24 citizens of Tuna, the tiny Texas town that erupts in holiday mayhem every year with a disastrous production of “A Christmas Carol,” yard displays vandalized by the Christmas Phantom, and a Humane Society overrun with iguanas, coyotes, sheep and myna birds. 60,000 patrons have made watching the antics in Tuna their family Christmas tradition every year, and we can't recommend it enough!

This year, whether you're off to Tuna or just looking to discover your inner elf, the Springer is all set to deliver some serious joy to you and your family this holiday season. Secure your tickets early, as tickets are expected to faster than you can say, "Sparklejollytwinklejingley!" For tickets, visit www.springeroperahouse.org or call 706-327-3688.◼︎
