'Beyond Go Figure V' Exhibition at the Bartlett Center Features Top Local Artists & Students

The fifth annual Beyond Go Figure exhibition is now on display at the Bo Bartlett Center with the public reception set for Thursday, June 20th at 6PM. The reception is free and open to the public with food and beverages provided.

The exhibition includes approximately 100 Columbus artists with a quarter of the exhibition being current Columbus State University students and alumni. Multiple mediums are represented within the show including drawing, painting, mosaic, fused glass, ceramic, sculpture, installation, mixed media, photography, and textiles.

“Beyond Go Figure highlights the prodigious talent in our local community," said the Center's namesake and world-renown artist, Bo Bartlett. " The Art being made here could easily be a part of a group show in large galleries or institutions in any more established art city. We are lucky to have such a generative and creative community in Columbus.”

The Bo Bartlett Center is an 18,425-square-foot interactive gallery space housed on the River Park campus of Columbus State University in downtown Columbus, GA. The red brick, former textile warehouse turned gallery space, designed by AIA award-winning architect, Tom Kundig, sits on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. Complementing exhibitions in the CSU Department of Art’s acclaimed Norman Shannon and Emmy Lou P. Illges Gallery, the Bartlett Center serves as an experiential learning center and cultural hub for the visual arts while affording visitors a broad range of arts experiences offered within the College’s arts district. As part of the College of the Arts’ Corn Center for Visual Arts, the Bo Bartlett Center is a pivotal element in the continued emergence of a national and international presence. "We absolutely love having the 'Beyond Go Figure' exhibition at our center," said the Center's director, Michael McFalls. "It showcases the rich artistic talent we have here in Columbus. This exhibition is the result of the hard work and dedication of Joshua Newbend, our gallery coordinator, and local artist Gloria Mani. As a non-juried show, it features the works of the first 100 students and community members who applied, truly celebrating the diversity of our local art scene."
